Description

We are lucky that sumac grows wild where we live though we've also planted a slightly tamer cultivar in our gardens so we always have access. Sumac leaves - green or fall red - as well as its berries can be used in the dye pot.

Experiments

Sumac has tremendous value as a local source of tannin and mordant. It is also an exceptional leaf for eco-printing.
