DYER'S CHAMOMILE
anthemis tinctoria

Chamomile.jpeg

Description

Dyer's chamomile is the earliest flower in our dye gardens as it is a perennial. In a wet year it spreads beautifully creating large clumps of many different plants. We need to stretch our arms far in order to get all the flowers. It is a firm flower that dries quickly and maintains its shape well.

Experiments

We have experimented with dying on wool and cotton. Chamomile produces a beautiful butter yellow.
