MARIGOLD
tagetes erecta

Marigold.jpeg

Description

The large bright and long-lasting marigold flowers are reminiscent of gardens of old. We grow tall bushy African marigold plants. We love how they keep blooming even during dry weather. In order to improve their dying potency we separate the petals to create a stronger and more pure dye.

Experiments

We have experimented with dying on wool and cotton as well as linen. We get a beautiful orange on wool, a lovely almost mint green on linen. Using only petals will yield a more concentrated dye and shows up as beautiful bright splashes of orange on a bundle dye or eco-print project.
